Karl spent most of his early career working as Financial Director in multi-national companies including Colgate-Palmolive, Linde Material Handling, Geotech & CGG. In a growing multi-national he assumed the role of Financial Director for all operations outside of North America. Whilst in this role he realised how poor the financial management was in most of the subsidiaries, highlighted in particular one day when a project profitability statement for the “largest and most important” client in Australia showed the company was making a loss. That prompted Karl to wonder what the state of financial management would be like in most small and medium sized businesses. Having always wanted to run his own business Karl decided that he would provide financial management to businesses who were unable to afford the cost of a full-time Financial Director.

Karl started Strafin in 2011 and has helped many businesses with their financial management, enabling them to get a clearer picture of their profitability and funding needs, ensuring that they survived tough times and generated enough capital to fund expansion.

As a Chartered Management Accountant, Karl is trained to look forward as opposed to merely producing historical financial statements.
